How dare a politician tell me as a conservative to “Just calm down” I’ll be damned if I will be told by someone that has the moral fortitude to chum up with Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton to pass crappy legislation that I should just calm down. Another example of his willingness to stifle free speech. His other big example is Campaign finance reform. He may be the inevitable Republican candidate but that doesn’t mean I have to vote for him just because I’m a conservative. I will, if pushed, make a spite vote.
I see it this way. If we as conservatives vote for him just to have a Republican in the office then we have forfeited our claim to the party. That leaves the conservatives with the option of starting a 3rd party to express our views or slip into oblivion. I say let the “centrists” start the 3rd party and not commandeer the Republican party. Conservatives shouldfight to keep the Republican party their own.
The biggest problem with today’s conservatives is the conciliatory tone many are willing to give. To hell with that! First off, define what makes you a conservative. Find those values that are important and then stand up, grow a pair, and stick your ground. There should be no negotiating your values, and that’s what we should govern on right, our values?

I’m not thrilled over McCain either by any means, but there’s no way I won’t end up voting for him. The thought of an Obama or Clinton presidency is a lot scarier to me. I don’t want to even think about the amount of damage either of them could inflict in four years. I understand the frustration with McCain, I’m as angry as the next person over his amnesty bill, etc. but I can’t just sit home and watch the country be handed over to Barack Obama, who votes to the left of Ted Kennedy. I’m afraid that is what will happen though, thanks to the record turnout of welfare mothers and college kids. We’re in for a repeat of the Carter years, only this time it will be worse.

Thanks for stopping by!
I also couldn’t vote for Obama myself. It’s not his nod yet but it’s certainly looking that way as of today. I still think Clinton might have some dirty trick up her sleeve that she’ll pull when she thinks all hope is lost. They’re already floating the Black/white thing in Penn. Anyway, I couldn’t vote for Obama. If Clinton gets the nod I don’t know that I could vote for her either but I don’t see any real difference between her and McCain. Voting for McCain will weaken the Republican party because it will water it down so much. When the Republicans offer up a person that is virtually the same as a Clinton we’re in a sad state of affairs. You mention a return to the Carter years, I don’t really see any of the current crop of candidates keeping us from there, minus Huck and he’s not a realistic option. He’s got issues too.
It’s frustrating that’s for sure but I do believe that our political system can withstand this bombardment of mediocrity. We’ll just have to elect enough congressmen and senators to counteract whoever gets in the White House.
